About Us

About Us

Project Re:Start wants to showcase that refugees can not only invigorate the workforce but can also be entrepreneurs who create opportunities for themselves and others. We strongly believe that Germany is a country where newcomers can build a better life when provided with equal opportunities. The benefits of supporting newcomers starting their own businesses work in both directions. Newcomers can support themselves financially and gain a sense of belonging to society, thus getting the chance to integrate themselves in their new home. At the same time, they create jobs and opportunities for others. As entrepreneurs, they also create pressure for change and innovation in existing companies, thus strengthening the national economy and encouraging sustainable development.

OUR VISION

We want to change the current debate about refugees being a burden. Our vision is that refugees be seen as makers, investors, and risk-takers. They are acknowledged to enrich our economies and feel a sense of belonging.

OUR MISSION

We empower refugees to successfully start their businesses in Germany. We consult them, connect them to mentors and pro bono supporters and create a community of like-minded newcomers that help each other along the way.

What we offer

What we offer

Our goal is to offer an incubation program and find solutions for the problems entrepreneurial newcomers face when coming to Germany. Our program thus integrates four elements, bringing together intensive training and coaching with access to a large network of experts and supporters.

ACADEMY

The Re:Start Academy provides newcomers with the necessary business know-how: from building your business case to acquiring partners and funding.

MENTORING

The Re:Start Mentoring connects newcomers with experienced entrepreneurs. It promotes professional exchange and helps newcomers build their own business networks.

SUPPORT NETWORK

The Re.Start support networks brings together dedicated service providers who offer newcomers assistance with specific issues such as tax or legal advice – all that at a fair price.

COMMUNITY

The Re.Start Community offers newcomers with the opportunity to connect with other entrepreneurial newcomers. It thus promotes peer coaching and provides a space for joint advocacy.

What people say about us.

lina

“I joined the Re:Start entrepreneurship class with an idea, I graduated with a full pitch deck, a business model, and a road map. An incubator program is a great way to integrate migrating minds and help them resettle and prosper.”

(Lina Al-Haddad from Syria, Student of Psychology)

hiba

“We came with a lot of experience in the furniture business, but still had to understand the local market. Re:Start supported us where we needed it. They really helped us move forward.”

THE TEAM

THE TEAM

Project Re:Start is a spin-off of the Berlin Peace Innovation Lab, which is part of a global network of peace innovation labs initiated by the renowned Stanford Peace Innovation Lab. This bottom-up network brings together individuals from a broad range of professions and expertise and seeks to catalyse social innovation. Within this framework, a committed group of people from all corners of the world started a conversation in June 2015 about the current refugee crisis – and what needs to be done. As a result of an exploration phase consisting of field visits to refugee homes, numerous interviews with refugees and newcomers and networking with other volunteer initiatives, Re:Start was born. We believe in team-work and embrace diversity not only within our clients but within our own core team as well. Our shared values build the ground; our differences encourage thinking outside the box and innovation.
